Welcome to Lydia's Sisters
Lydia’s Sisters is a ministry of the women of the Church of Christ in Hurley, Mississippi — a place where women of faith gather to pray, study, and grow together in the love of Christ. Like Lydia, whose story shines brightly in Acts 16, we seek to be prayerful, humble, obedient, faithful, and hospitable — reflecting Christ in all we do.
A Little About Lydia
From just a few verses in the Bible (Acts 16:12–15, 40), we learn so much about Lydia — a remarkable woman of faith.
Lydia was a businesswoman from Thyatira, known for her trade in purple dyes. Living in Philippi, she gathered with other godly women by the riverside to pray. Her words and actions revealed a heart full of humility, obedience, and faithfulness. She and her household became the first recorded converts to Christ in Europe after Paul’s journey to Macedonia.
Her home became a place of welcome, worship, and encouragement — and her story continues to inspire Christian women today.
