Our Mission & Vision
At Hurley church of Christ, everything we do centers on Jesus Christ — His example, His message, and His mission. The following statements express who we are, what we believe, and what we strive to live out daily as His church.
Our Focus: Jesus
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Our Mission: Salvation for the World
Mark 16:15-16
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
Our Seal: The Holy Spirit
Ephesians 1:13–14
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Our Trademark: Love
John 13:35
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
1 John 4:8
He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Our Privilege: Prayer to the Father
James 5:16–17
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
Ephesians 2:18
For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

Our Blessing: Assembling for Communion with Christ and One Another
Acts 2:46–47
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
Hebrews 10:24–25
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Our Debt: Forgiveness
Ephesians 4:31–32
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Our Duty: Faith & Service
James 2:17–18
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
Our Desired Disposition: Humility
2 Timothy 2:24–25
And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth.

Our Destination: Heaven
Philippians 3:20–21
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
Our Plea: Restoration
Our great plea is the restoration of the religious world to the Lord’s church which was established approximately 33 A.D. on the Day of Pentecost in Jerusalem 50 days after the Passover on which our Savior became our Great and Only Sacrifice, and of which we read in the New Testament of our Lord.
2 Timothy 4:2–4
“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Our Vision: Salvation for the World
That it may be said of us, as in Acts 17:6:
Acts 17:6:
“These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”
That we may participate in bringing about in our times that which was done in the first century:
Colossians 1:23
… if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the Gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Come join us in our mission to share the hope of Christ and live out His love.
“To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.” — Ephesians 3:21
