What Does It Mean to Follow Christ?

Following Christ is more than just a belief—it’s a commitment to live according to His example and teachings. Jesus invites us to accept the grace of God and to experience a transformed life, one grounded in love, faith, and obedience to God’s Word. As He taught, the greatest commandments are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39).

Acknowledge Christ as Savior

Recognizing the grace of God in Jesus Christ, the son of God, who left heaven and came to earth, lived a sinless life as a man, and gave His life on the cross for our sins. His resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith, offering us hope and eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 5:8).

Turn Away from Sin

Accepting the Grace of God requires—a turning away from sin and selfishness to pursue God’s will in every aspect of life. This ongoing transformation shapes us into His likeness (Acts 3:19).

Be Baptized Into Christ

Baptism is not just a symbol; it is an essential step of faith, hope, sanctification and justification, where we are united with Christ in His death and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4). It’s through baptism that we receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

Obey His Word

The Bible is our guide to Heaven and eternal life with God. It shows us wisdom and direction for how we live, worship, and serve (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Jesus said, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments" (John 14:15), reminding us that our love for Him is shown through our actions.

Serve Others

A true follower of Christ reflects His love and compassion through acts of service and kindness. As Jesus said, “By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).
